On May 6 to 7 this year, in Estonia was held a large-scale international space conference Space Downstream Services 2010, which was attended by representatives from the European Space Agency (ESA), as well as prominent personnel of the space industry. It is the first time when a large-scale conference on practical application of space technologies has been held in Baltic States.
On 13 May 2010, in the municipality of Cēsis Region was presented the strategy for the new-formed Vidzeme Business Innovations Centre (VBIC). It is intended that from year 2011 the VBIC will include Departments of Information, Demonstration and Training, and the plans for further future foresee development of Technology Department in supplementary premises.
The company Digital Media Agency ltd. from the VHTP Business Incubator together with students from Ventspils High Technology Park for the first time took part in the international marketing competition Google Online Marketing Challenge 2010. The competition was held for the third year in succession, and up to now no Latvian higher educational establishments have been represented there.
Owing to the initiative of Ventspils High Technology Park (VHTP) and the Ministry of Education and Science (IZM), this year for the first time two 15 –18 year old Latvian teenagers (1 girl and 1 boy) will have an opportunity to participate in the international camp in the U.S. Space & Rocket Centre, Huntsville, Alabama, from 23 to 31 July.
At the end of January, the representatives from the foundation Ventspils High Technology Park and from Ventspils University College went to Tartu University in order to discuss visits of Ventspils students and researchers in Estonia and visits of Tartu students and researchers in Latvia.
