Owing to the initiative of Ventspils High Technology Park (VHTP) and the Ministry of Education and Science (IZM), this year for the first time two 15 –18 year old Latvian teenagers (1 girl and 1 boy) will have an opportunity to participate in the international camp in the U.S. Space & Rocket Centre, Huntsville, Alabama, from 23 to 31 July.
The Centre organizes such camps every summer, and they gather teenagers from more than 20 countries for mutual cooperation. During the one week’s camp teenagers take part in the intensive learning programme Advanced Space Academy®, which is intended to raise interest on the space science and its exploration.
In order to select the best applicants, VHTP and the Ministry of Education and Science have announced the competition „Mums pieder debesis!” (“We own the sky!”) for pupils of secondary schools and vocational secondary educational establishments in Latvia. More details on the competition are available in Latvian -see here.
